Humbled By Support

I am very humbled by the outpouring of support for our campaign. In just one day three patriotic Mainer’s signed up to make monthly contributions to our 2018 campaign! Mostly notable is that two of them are living on fixed incomes. My promise to them and to everyone in Maine’s 1st Congressional district is that, once elected I will remain as fiscally conservative with their tax dollars as I am with their campaign contributions.

On Saturday, March 4, I joined 100 Trump supporters and conservatives in a rally that marched from Shaw's to the State House. We braved 10º and 20 mph winds to sing patriotic songs and listen to a few speeches. What a stalwart and steadfast group! March 4 Trump rallies occured across the country.

My staff and I are hard at work crafting a new campaign for 2018. I so appreciate your support and would be pleased to hear from you with concerns and suggestions.

Trump On Sweden: No Exaggeration

From The Wall Street Journal

When President Trump last week raised Sweden’s problematic experience with open-door immigration, skeptics were quick to dismiss his claims. Two days later an immigrant suburb of Stockholm was racked by another riot. No one was seriously injured, though the crowd burned cars and hurled stones at police officers.

Mr. Trump did not exaggerate Sweden’s current problems. If anything, he understated them. Sweden took in about 275,000 asylum-seekers from 2014-16—more per capita than any other European country. Eighty percent of those who came in 2015 lacked passports and identification, but a majority come from Muslim nations. Islam has become Sweden’s second-largest religion. In Malmö, our third-largest city, Mohamed is the most common name for baby boys.

The effects are palpable, starting with national security. An estimated 300 Swedish citizens with immigrant backgrounds have traveled to the Middle East to fight for Islamic State. Many are now returning to Sweden and are being welcomed back with open arms by our socialist government. In December 2010 we had our first suicide attack on Swedish soil, when an Islamic terrorist tried to blow up hundreds of civilians in central Stockholm while they were shopping for Christmas presents. Thankfully the bomber killed only himself.

Riots and social unrest have become a part of everyday life. Police officers, firefighters and ambulance personnel are regularly attacked. Serious riots in 2013, involving many suburbs with large immigrant populations, lasted for almost a week. Gang violence is booming. Despite very strict firearm laws, gun violence is five times as common in Sweden, in total, as in the capital cities of our three Nordic neighbors combined.

Anti-Semitism has risen. Jews in Malmö are threatened, harassed and assaulted in the streets. Many have left the city, becoming internal refugees in their country of birth.

The number of sex crimes nearly doubled from 2014-15, according to surveys by the Swedish government body for crime statistics. One-third of Swedish women report that they no longer feel secure in their own neighborhoods, and 12% say they

don’t feel safe going out alone after dark. A 1996 report from the same government body found that immigrant men were far likelier to commit rape than Swedish men. Last year our party asked the minister of justice to conduct a new report on crime and immigration, and he replied: “In light of previous studies, I do not see that a further report on recorded crime and individuals’ origins would add knowledge with the potential to improve the Swedish society.”

Our nation’s culture hasn’t been spared either. Artists accused of insulting Islam live under death threats. Dance performances and art exhibitions have been called off for fear of angering Islamists. Schools have prohibited the singing of traditional Christian hymns because they don’t want to “insult” non-Christian immigrants. Yet reports made with hidden cameras by journalists from Swedish public media show mosques teaching fundamentalist interpretations of Islam.

Sweden’s government now spends an incredible amount of money caring for newly arrived immigrants each year. The unemployment rate among immigrants is five times as high as that of native Swedes. Among some groups, such as Somalis, in places like Malmö unemployment reaches 80%.

Our party, the Sweden Democrats, wants to put the security and welfare of Swedish citizens first. We are surging in the opinion polls and seem to have a good chance of becoming the country’s largest party during the elections next year. We will not rest until we have made Sweden safe again.

For the sake of the American people, with whom we share so many strong historical and cultural ties, we can only hope that the leaders in Washington won’t make the same mistakes that our socialist and liberal politicians did.

Mr. Åkesson is party chairman of the Sweden Democrats. Mr. Karlsson is the party’s group leader in Parliament.

Only in Liberal America - Top Ten

I don’t like being made fun of. No one does. In this case, the fun is being poked at my country by our Canadian brothers. However, sad but true, they’re pretty much spot on. I am hoping, while humorous, this is a wake up call for our liberal-leaning citizens.

# 10 Only in America ... could politicians talk about the greed of the rich at a $35,000 per plate Clinton campaign fund-raising event.

# 9 Only in America... could people claim that the government still discriminates against black Americans when they have a black President, a black Attorney General and roughly 20% of the federal workforce is black while only 13% of the population is black, 40% of federal entitlements goes to black Americans - 3X the rate that go to whites, and 5X the rate that goes to Hispanics.

# 8 Only in America... could the two people most responsible for their tax code, Timothy Geithner (former head of the Treasury) and Charles Rangel (who once ran the Ways and Means Committee), BOTH turn out to be tax cheats, and they were in favor of higher taxes.

# 7 Only in America... can terrorists kill people in the name of Allah and our media react by worrying that Muslims might be effronted by any backlash.

# 6 Only in America... would they make people who want to legally become American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege, while they let anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just 'magically' become American citizens.

# 5 Only in America ... could the people who believe in balancing the budget and sticking by the country's Constitution be called EXTREMISTS.

# 4 Only in America ... could you need to present a driver's license to cash a check or buy alcohol or go on an airplane, but not to vote.

# 3 Only in America ... could people demand the government investigate whether oil companies are gouging the public because the price of gas went up when the return on equity invested in a major U.S. Oil company (Marathon Oil) is less than half of a company making tennis shoes (Nike).

# 2 Only in America... could you collect more tax dollars from citizens than any nation in recorded history, still spend a Trillion dollars more than its income per year - $7 Million PER MINUTE - and complain that it doesn't have enough money.

# 1 Only in America.... could the rich people - the top 20% of earners who pay 86% of all income taxes - be accused of not paying their "fair share" by the half of earners who don't pay any income taxes at all.

Bonus: Only in America...  do you have to pass a drug test to get a pay check, yet any crack head can get their welfare check no questions asked.

Government & Media Connection

So, you've had this nagging suspicion that the news system is rigged, but you couldn't quite put your finger on it. Well, let me clear that up for you.

Ian Cameron, ABC news producer is married to Susan Rice, National Security Advisor

Chellie Pingree was married to Donald Sussman, owner of MaineToday Media thru 6/15

CBS President David Rhodes is the brother of Ben Rhodes, Obama’s Deputy National Security Adviser for Strategic Communications

ABC News and Univision reporter Matthew Jaffe is married to Katie Hogan, Obama’s Deputy Press Secretary

CNN President Virginia Moseley is married to former Hillary Clinton’s Deputy Secretary, Tom Nides

ABC President Ben Sherwood is the brother of Obama’s Special Adviser Elizabeth Sherwood

And now you know why it is no surprise the media is in Obama's and Pingree's pocket. Think there might be a little bias in the news?

The VA is Redecorating

I know that, now that I am running for a national office, I should be constrained by Political Correctness, and not say anything which might hurt some one's feelings. What about my feelings?

I have posted many times on this site and FB and TW and elsewhere my observations and proscriptions regarding our government's failures to our veterans. I have tried to be reflective, considerate and positive, pointing out problems and making suggestions. The old street cop in me wants out. I treat cops and vets for PTST every day in my private practice. Now, I'm just plain angry (read: really p****d off)!

How can any administrator on any level think spending millions on art is preferred to shortening wait times and increasing medical service to our Veterans? IT DOES NOT TAKE NEW COMPUTER SYSTEMS OR MORE MONEY TO CONNECT VETERANS TO DOCTORS. It takes people who care.

Ms. Pingree, DO YOU CARE?”
