Your Electric Bill Up 30% Now For .03F Temp Saving By 2079?

Kudos to the Texas Public Policy Foundation for their series of infomative videos addressing myths about air pollution and the effects of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Power Plan. I've embedded one video below for your convenience. You can see them all here.

EPA Clean Power Act

Currently, the EPA “Clean Power Act” seeks to reduce greenhouses emissions 25 percent below 2005 levels by 2020, and 30 percent by 2030. This will come down very hard on coal-fired electricity generation. The estimated results are a loss of 1 million jobs, $2.5 trillion in GDP, and an income loss of $7,000 per person. So, what do we get? EPA’s own model says this will avert  0.018 degree Celsius (C) of warming by the year 2100. In fact, the U.S. could cut its CO2 emissions 100 percent and it would not make a difference in global warming. Meantime, the Chinese are building one coal-fired power plant every 7 - 10 days.

Does this seems a little crazy to you? I am in favor of the cleanest, practically-possible power. I am against pollution, and also against stupidity. President Obama has said, "if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it’s just that it will bankrupt them. Under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket." Sound good to you?

Coal is our cheapest source of electricity and currently accounts for 40% of the total. It is also the jobs life-blood of many states. I am in favor of guiding steady progress in the updating of our oldest coal plants and high standards for new plants.
